This book is a history of the Anabaptists under the various names that they were known by. The author devotes a chapter to each aspect of the Anabaptist faith and life suggested by the various names of reproach that they were labeled with. The rift between them and the Reformers, writes the author, "was the result of a problem that perennially beset the Church of Christ, the problem of how to relate that Church to its environment."
