This book contains short stories of famous American women during their youth.  They all had obstacles to overcome, as with all young people.  Our attention is drawn to some of the outstanding characteristics in the girlhood of these women to show the relationship between these qualities in girlhood and the achievement in their adult lives.  Louisa Alcott, Susan B.
